According to Indian media, ABD Villiers has apologized to Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and his family for spreading wrong information live on his YouTube channel.
AB de Villiers said that my friend Virat Kohli is yet to return to cricket, I request everyone to take care of the privacy of Virat Kohli and his family.
“None of us know why Virat Kohli is missing till now but I would request everyone to respect the cricketer’s privacy,” he said.
“I made a big mistake on my YouTube channel, I shared wrong information without verification for which I apologize to Virat Kohli, his wife Anushka Sharma and the entire family,” de Villiers said.
“Hopefully, we will see Virat Kohli back on the cricket field very soon where he will score runs like always,” he added.
It should be noted that Virat Kohli had decided to withdraw from the first two Test matches of the ongoing series against England citing personal reasons.
In its statement, the BCCI urged fans and the media not to speculate about the reasons for Kohli’s decision and to maintain the family’s privacy.
