Historic Defence Pact: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia & Türkiye Unite Against Any Attack
MAKKAH, August 7, 2026: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye have signed a landmark joint defence agreement under which an armed attack on any one of the three countries will be considered an attack on all, marking a major step towards enhanced regional security cooperation.
The agreement, officially named the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, was signed during a trilateral defence summit held at Qasr Al-Safa in Makkah. The high-level meeting was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, the three leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collective security, defence coordination, and strategic cooperation. The agreement reflects the shared resolve of the three nations to promote peace, stability, and security across the region.
Under the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye will expand collaboration across all areas of defence, including military coordination, strategic planning, and security partnerships. The leaders also agreed to further deepen their long-standing brotherly relations and advance mutual defence interests.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a separate meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also attended the meeting.
