19 people died and 6 were injured in accidents due to rains, strong winds and flash floods and landslides in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 48 hours.
The PDMA has issued a preliminary report on the loss of life and property in the province due to rain, floods/flash floods and landslides.
According to the PDMA, the 19 dead include 6 men, 5 women and 8 children, while the injured include 3 men and 3 women. A total of 56 houses were damaged due to the rain, of which 50 were partially and 6 were completely collapsed.
According to the report, the accidents occurred in different districts of the province: Swat, Abbottabad, Charsadda, Malakand, Shangla, Lower Dir and Torghar. Swat was the most affected district, with 13 people killed and 6 injured.
The PDMA has directed the concerned district administration to provide immediate relief to the affected family and ensure the provision of best medical facilities to the injured. The rains are likely to continue till July 1. The PDMA has already issued a letter to the district administration to remain alert and take preventive measures.
According to the PDMA spokesperson, the PDMA is in constant contact with all the district administrations, related and relief agencies. The PDMA Emergency Operation Center is fully functional. The public should report any untoward incident on 1700.
