Shadab Khan’s Maiden ODI Century Seals Pakistan’s One-Wicket Win
Shadab Khan’s Maiden ODI Century Powers Pakistan to Thrilling One-Wicket Win Over England
LAHORE, October 25, 2026: Pakistan secured a dramatic one-wicket victory over England in the fourth match of the ODI tri-series, thanks to a magnificent unbeaten century from all-rounder Shadab Khan.
Chasing a target of 242 runs, Pakistan reached 242-9 in 47.1 overs, with Shadab producing a match-winning performance under pressure to guide his team home in a nail-biting finish.
Shadab remained unbeaten on 113 off 96 deliveries, smashing 13 fours and five sixes. The innings marked his maiden century in One-Day International cricket and proved decisive after Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled during the chase.
With Pakistan requiring crucial runs towards the end, Shadab found valuable support from Haris Rauf, who remained not out on seven. The pair held their nerve to complete the chase and secure a memorable victory for the home side.
Pakistan’s Batting Struggles Before Shadab’s Heroics
Pakistan experienced a difficult start to their innings as several key batters failed to convert their starts into substantial scores.
Saad Baig contributed 32 runs off 22 balls, while Salman Ali Agha scored 26 and Hasan Nawaz added 15. Fakhar Zaman managed 10 runs, Saim Ayub scored six, and Babar Azam was dismissed for 10.
England’s bowlers kept the contest competitive, with Jamie Overton taking three wickets. Gus Atkinson and Liam Dawson claimed two wickets apiece, putting Pakistan under considerable pressure before Shadab’s decisive contribution.
Ben Duckett Leads England’s Innings
Earlier, England were bowled out for 241 in 46.4 overs after opting to bat first.
Ben Duckett was the standout performer for England, scoring an impressive 105 off 111 deliveries. His century provided the foundation for the visitors’ total, while Sam Curran contributed 42 runs and Gus Atkinson remained unbeaten on 36.
Pakistan’s bowling attack delivered an effective performance, led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, who claimed four wickets. Arafat Minhas and Razaullah picked up two wickets each, while Haris Rauf added one wicket.
Despite England’s efforts with both bat and ball, Shadab’s outstanding century ultimately proved the difference between the two sides.
Pakistan Maintain Momentum in Tri-Series
The victory strengthened Pakistan’s position in the ODI tri-series, following the opening three matches in Rawalpindi.
Pakistan had won both of their first two matches, while Sri Lanka had recorded one victory and one defeat. England entered the Lahore encounter after losing their first two games of the competition.
The match was also part of a breast cancer awareness campaign, with Pakistan’s players wearing pink kits to promote awareness of the disease.
Shadab’s maiden ODI hundred and Pakistan’s last-wicket victory made the contest a memorable occasion for home supporters, highlighting the all-rounder’s ability to deliver when his team needed him most.
