A new study tells us that people’s minds are usually in their best frame of mind when they wake up in the morning.
People tend to feel their worst around midnight and feel their best in the morning, researchers report in a new study published in BMJ Mental Health.
Fifi Bo, a principal research fellow in behavioural science and health at University College London, says that mornings are generally the most positive and uplifting time of day for all people.
The findings not only provide better insight into how the time of day changes people’s moods, but they could also help guide future efforts to track and treat people’s mental health, she said. The time of day can also influence treatment, as how a person feels at any given time of day.
She added that our findings highlight the importance of considering time, day and season in mental health and wellbeing.
