Islamabad: The country’s trade deficit recorded a decline of 7.4 percent on an annual basis in the first 5 months of the ongoing fiscal year and 18.6 percent on a monthly basis in November.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan’s trade deficit was recorded at $8.651 billion in the period from July to November 2024, which is 7.4 percent less than the same period of the previous fiscal year.
The country’s trade deficit was recorded at $9.340 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year. According to the statistics, the volume of domestic imports was recorded at $22.342 billion in the first 5 months of the fiscal year, which is 3.9 percent more than the $21.503 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
In November 2024, $4.393 billion of foreign exchange was spent on imports, which is 2.9 percent less than $4.525 billion in November last year.
According to statistics, the volume of domestic exports in the first 5 months of the fiscal year was recorded at $13.691 billion, which is 12.6 percent more than $12.163 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
In November, the country earned $2.804 billion of foreign exchange from exports, which is 9 percent more than $2.573 billion in November last year.
