India defeated Australia by 295 runs in the Perth Test to take a 0-1 lead in the 5-Test series of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The first match of the 5-Test series between Australia and India was played in Perth, in which the visiting team was bowled out for 150 runs in the first innings, but the host team could only score 104 runs, giving India a 46-run lead in the first innings.
In the second innings, the Indian team put in a surprising performance and declared the innings by scoring 487 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, setting Australia a target of 534 runs to win.
In pursuit of the target, the Kangaroos batting line-up flopped in the second innings as well and the entire team could only score 238 runs, with 6 players unable to even enter double figures, with Travis Head standing out by scoring 89 runs.
For India, captain Jasprit Bumrah took 5 wickets in the first innings and 3 wickets in the second innings and was declared the man of the match, Mohammad Siraj took 5 wickets in the match and Harsh Rana took 4 wickets.
A total of 17 wickets fell on the first day of the Perth Test, which made it seem that the match would end on the third day, but the Indian batsmen silenced the critics by showing excellent batting in the second innings.
