In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier match, the Ivory Coast team was out for just 7 runs in pursuit of Nigeria’s target of 272 runs, thus setting a new record for the lowest score in the history of T20 cricket.
According to a report by the cricket website ‘CrickInfo’, Nigeria won the toss and batted first and scored 271 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
From Nigeria, Salim Slaw played an innings of 112 runs off 53 balls, for which he was also declared the man of the match, in addition to this, Suleiman played an innings of 50 and Isaac played an innings of 65 runs.
Chasing the target, the entire Ivory Coast team was dismissed for just 7 runs in 7.3 overs, and thus they entered the record books, Ivory Coast became the team with the lowest score in the history of T20.
This is the first time in the history of T20 that any team has been dismissed in single digits, the previous record for the lowest score was 10 runs, which was set between Mongolia and Singapore in September this year.
While playing the first match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, the entire Mongolian team was dismissed for 10 runs and Singapore had already won the match by scoring 13 runs in the first over.
On the other hand, Nigeria won against Ivory Coast by 264 runs, which is the third biggest victory in terms of runs in the history of T20.
The record for the biggest win in T20s in terms of runs is held by Zimbabwe, who defeated Gambia by 290 runs in the World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier match.
Zimbabwe not only achieved the biggest win in this match but also set a record for the highest score in the history of T20 cricket. Zimbabwe scored 344 runs thanks to Sikandar Raza’s 133 runs off 43 balls and dismissed the opposition team for 54.
The record for the second biggest win in terms of runs is held by Nepal, who, after scoring 314 runs in September last year, dismissed Mongolia for 41 runs and won by 273 runs.
