KARACHI: Pakistan Customs Enforcement Karachi recovered 17 tons of prohibited and harmful smuggled Chinese salt during a raid on the warehouse of Khyber Colony located in Sector 4 of Orangi Town on a tip-off received under anti-smuggling campaign.
Deputy Collector Customs Enforcement Raza Naqvi said that the value of the smuggled Ajinomoto Chinese Salt (Mono Sodium Glutamate) exported from the warehouse is 1 crore 70 lakh rupees. which is then sold and supplied at wholesale price.
The recovered Chinese salt has been transferred to the Customs ASO warehouse, the authorities have registered a case and arrested an accused and obtained remand from the competent court for further investigation.
It should be noted that the Department of Health has declared Ajino Muttu as harmful to health and the import, purchase and sale of Ajinu Muttu in the country is banned. For this harmful Chinese salt (Ajinomoto) is being used indiscriminately.
