Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL), is set to expand its horizons by investing in theestablishment of data centres, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and relatedtechnology ventures. This strategic initiative aligns with Pakistan’s vision for a digitallyempowered economy and will leverage cutting-edge technologies to drive digitaltransformation across multiple industries, significantly enhance Pakistan’s datainfrastructure, stimulate economic growth, and create employmentopportunities forhighlyskilled workforce in this sector.
MPCL in collaboration with its partners, will lead this expansion by developing Tier-III / TierIV certified, purpose-built data centers across Pakistan to meet the data management andprocessing needs for wide range of public and private institutions. These data centers willprovide co-location services, and also deliver comprehensive cloud services, addressingthe evolving requirements of businesses across different sectors.
The Projectlaunch ceremonywas held onSeptember 25, 2024, inKarachi andwas attendedby key stakeholders and prominent corporate leaders. This initiative is expected to pave theway for creating a secure and efficient infrastructure for data storage and processing,adhering toprinciples ofdata localization andsovereignty, while promoting environmentallysustainable practices. This initiative represents a significant milestone in MPCL’s journey,further solidifying its position as a leader in both the energy and technology sectors inPakistan.
