Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the mentors of 5 teams involved in Champions Cup.
According to PCB, 5 mentors have been announced for Champions Cup included in domestic season 2024-25. The mentors have been hired on a 3-year contract while the names and squads of the teams will also be revealed soon.
Mentors include Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Sarfraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik and Waqar Younis. The first assignment of these mentors will be the Champions ODI Cup starting from September 12 in Faisalabad.
In this regard, Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi said that all the five cricketers have vast experience of the game which will be useful for Pakistan cricket. PCB is committed to strengthening Pakistan cricket through a strong domestic structure.
It should be noted that Sarfaraz Ahmed is the only player among these mentors who has not retired till now and is associated with a strong cricket team.
According to PCB sources, wicketkeeper-batter Sarfaraz Ahmed will be allowed to play as a player while being mentored. Sarfraz Ahmad will be able to continue professional cricket while being a mentor.
