ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that solar energy project in Balochistan is an important step to deal with climate change.
Speaking at the Regional Parliamentarians’ Conference held in the federal capital, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that he welcomes all domestic and foreign dignitaries including Japan’s Minister of State Toshiko Abe to the event. He said that without fully empowering women, the dream of green economy, sustainable development cannot be fulfilled.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that the importance of collective efforts to empower women and achieve sustainable development cannot be denied. Parliament is playing an active role in empowering women and achieving sustainable development goals. The establishment of Gender Mainstreaming Committee in Parliament will prove to be an important step in empowering women in the country. Using abusive language against women is unacceptable.
He said that climate change is a global problem. Pakistan is among the countries most affected by climate change. Actions are being taken continuously at all levels to combat climate change. The Parliament of Pakistan has the honor of being the first Green Parliament in the world.
The speaker of the National Assembly said that the launch of the multi-billion rupee solar energy project in Balochistan by the federal government is an important step to deal with climate change. I congratulate Coordinator to Prime Minister on Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam for organizing a regional conference on this important issue. It is hoped that this conference will be helpful in our efforts to achieve sustainable development.
