An Indian Army soldier was lying in a pool of blood at the scene of the incident and had an official rifle with him. The soldier, identified as Shekhran, was taken to hospital where he was confirmed dead.
Indian police say that preliminary investigations suggest that Sepoy Shekhran committed suicide, but no suicide note was found and the cause of suicide has not been determined.
According to the police, an inquiry committee was formed to investigate the soldier’s suicide, but none of the inquiry committees formed into the frequent suicide incidents of Indian soldiers have ever yielded any results.
