Dhaka: 43 people died in a fire in a restaurant in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
According to foreign media, Bangladesh Health Minister Samanta Lal says that the fire broke out in a Biryani restaurant located in an affluent area of Dhaka. 40 people were injured due to the fire and are undergoing treatment at Bern Hospital.
According to the fire department officials, the fire broke out in the biryani restaurant which also engulfed the upper floors of the 7 storied building. 75 people surrounded by fire were evacuated safely. Firefighters brought the fire under control after 2 hours of struggle.
An investigation is underway to find out the cause of the fire. Officials have expressed fear of an increase in deaths.
