California: Technology giant Google has dismissed rumors that it will end its Gmail service.
A post on social networking platform X (formerly Twitter) featured a screenshot of a fake email claiming that the Gmail service was about to be shut down.
Although this screenshot was taken from an actual email that Google wrote to get rid of the Basic HTML view and part of it was later used to spread the rumor.
The viral post said that the company wanted to share an important piece of information about Gmail. After years of connecting people around the world, Gmail’s journey is coming to an end.
This announcement was considered factual by people as in the past months Google has announced the closure of many of its popular services.
A website called ‘Killed by Google’ has been created for apps, services and hardware being discontinued by Google, which lists 293 products.
Google on X (formerly Twitter) denied rumors of Gmail’s demise, sharing a post saying “Gmail is here to stay”.
