New York: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has expressed its willingness to work with the new government of Pakistan.
IMF Communications Director Julie Kozek said in a media briefing that she looks forward to working with the new government of Pakistan on policies for economic stability and prosperity.
While appreciating the steps taken by the Caretaker Government, the Director of Communication of the IMF said that the authorities of the Caretaker Government of Pakistan strictly followed the fiscal targets and took measures for social security, on the basis of which the economic stability was maintained. This was due to strict Monterey policy to control inflation and increase foreign exchange reserves.
IMF Communications Director Julie Kozek said that the Executive Board approved Pakistan’s review under the Standby Arrangement on January 11, after which disbursements reached $1.9 billion.
Asked about the PTI’s letter to the IMF, the IMF official said that she would not discuss Pakistan’s political affairs or any point in that regard.
