ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet approved the increase in the basic electricity tariff.
According to the sources, Nepra had sent the decision to increase the basic electricity tariff by an average of Rs.5.72 to the government. Nepra Authority had decided to implement the increase in electricity tariff from July 1, 2024. The decision to increase the basic electricity tariff is for the financial year 2004-25. Nepra had approved an increase in the average basic electricity tariff from Rs 29.78 to Rs 35.50 per unit.
The decision of the federal cabinet will extinguish Nepra for uniform tariff. After approval by Nepra, the federal government will issue a notification to increase the basic electricity tariff. The summary has been approved through circulation from the Federal Cabinet.
