Is Samsung Faking Mini LED? TCL Takes Legal Action
Lahore, Pakistan – September 09, 2026: Technology company TCL is suing Samsung over what it alleges is false advertising concerning the use of “Mini LED” in some of its television models.
TCL, a pioneer of Mini LED technology and among the first companies to introduce it to the market, alleges that Samsung’s “Mini LED” label could mislead consumers into believing that the televisions provide the technological benefits and performance associated with Mini LED technology.
Reuters reported on September 1, 2026, that TCL’s lawsuit, filed in a Los Angeles federal court, concerns Samsung’s M Model televisions, which TCL alleges are being marketed as Mini LED televisions without incorporating certain technological features associated with the technology.
Samsung has pushed back against the allegations, saying it will vigorously defend itself in court. The company maintains that it stands behind the quality of its products and the accuracy of the information it provides to consumers.
As part of its legal action, TCL is seeking an order preventing Samsung from using the “Mini LED” name and related claims in what the company alleges is a misleading manner. TCL is also seeking damages, although the amount of compensation requested has not been specified.
The dispute comes as advanced display technologies continue to shape competition in the global television market, including in Pakistan, where consumers have growing access to premium display technologies.
At this stage, the claims remain allegations and are subject to ongoing legal proceedings.
