The death toll in the ongoing student protests in Bangladesh has increased to 105, after which a curfew has been imposed across the country and the army has been called in.
According to foreign media, students stormed a prison, freed hundreds of colleagues and set the prison on fire.
More than 2500 people including 104 police officers and 30 journalists have been injured in the clashes between the police and the students for several days.
According to a foreign news agency, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid’s press secretary Naeemul Islam Khan said that the government has decided to deploy the army and impose a curfew to help civil institutions.
In Bangladesh, all schools and universities are closed due to student protests against the quota system in government jobs. Train service, news channels, mobile phone and internet service are also suspended in the country.
