South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s office said in a statement that South Africa has submitted evidence of Israel’s genocide in Gaza to the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
The presidency said the document contained evidence showing how Israel was violating the international convention on genocide in Gaza.
These evidences include killing Palestinians living in Gaza with prohibited weapons, denying access to humanitarian aid, using hunger as a weapon of war, and occupying Gaza through forced displacement.
In a case brought by South Africa, the ICJ is examining allegations of genocide against Israel in Gaza, the International Court of Justice has already given a preliminary ruling in the case.
In May, the ICJ ordered Israel to stop its offensive on Rafah, citing a “serious threat” to the millions of Palestinians taking refuge there, but Israel flouted the international court’s order.
