Rajab Butt Issues Apology After Social Media Backlash

ISLAMABAD, September 16, 2026: Popular Pakistani YouTuber Rajab Butt has apologized for controversial remarks concerning child sexual abuse after facing strong criticism on social media.

The controversy emerged after an old video of Rajab Butt appearing in a TikTok Live session with Zaid Ali T went viral. In the video, Butt made an inappropriate joke involving the highly sensitive issue of child sexual abuse while commenting on Zaid Ali’s expressions.

The remarks drew widespread criticism from social media users, with many objecting to the use of such a serious subject as a source of humor.

Following the backlash, Rajab Butt addressed the controversy through an Instagram Story and admitted that his words were inappropriate and unacceptable.

He said that what he had said in the video was “extremely inappropriate” and went beyond acceptable limits, acknowledging that such remarks should not be treated as a joke.

Butt also noted that jokes of this nature have unfortunately become common in some social settings, particularly among groups of boys. However, he acknowledged that their prevalence does not make them appropriate or acceptable.

He further said that given the seriousness of the issue in Pakistan, he should have shown greater sensitivity while speaking about such matters.

The YouTuber apologized to everyone whose feelings were hurt by his remarks, including people whose past traumatic experiences may have been brought back by the controversial comments.

He also clarified that although the video being circulated is old, the fact that it was recorded in the past does not justify what he said.

Rajab Butt said he intends to learn from his mistakes and make a greater effort to be responsible and careful about his words and their potential impact in the future.

The apology comes after the old video resurfaced and triggered renewed discussion on social media about responsible content creation and the treatment of sensitive issues involving children.
