Pakistan’s Narowal Dialogue Bridges Continents as Morocco’s :

Narowal – 7 May, 2026 (Staff Reporter) : Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, has termed the International Narowal Peace Dialogue 2026 a commendable initiative that conveys a strong message of peace, tolerance, and dialogue to the world. He stated that the youth of Pakistan have rejected extremism and hatred and are emerging as ambassadors of dialogue, unity, and harmony.

In his address, the Minister highlighted that Narowal is being transformed into a city of knowledge, which will serve as a hub of education, development, and peace in the future. Referring to a personal incident, he recalled that he was once targeted by an individual influenced by a narrative of hatred, emphasizing that such experiences reinforce the need to cleanse society of extremism, sectarianism, and prejudice. He noted that the attack on him was the result of a toxic mindset that turns differences into hostility.

He stressed that the world today is in dire need of peace and that Narowal is sending a message that dialogue is the answer to hatred. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and underscored the importance of promoting tolerance, mutual respect, and coexistence in society. He urged adherence to the principles laid down by the Founder of Pakistan and called for respect for differing opinions.
The Minister further stated that Islam is a religion of peace and love, and emphasized that individuals must ensure that their words and actions bring comfort and safety to others. He asserted that no one has the authority to judge another person’s faith and called for discouraging propaganda and fostering unity, harmony, and inclusivity.

Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that national unity is essential to transform Pakistan into a strong and successful state, and that the rights and dignity of people belonging to all religions must be respected. He acknowledged that extremism and terrorism have caused immense loss to the country, but credited the resilience of the nation, armed forces, and institutions for restoring peace and stability. He also highlighted the collective efforts of religious scholars in promoting peace through the Paigham-e-Pakistan initiative.

Former Prime Minister of Morocco, Dr. Saad Dine El Otmani, in his address, expressed his deep affection for Pakistan and said he traveled a long distance to participate in the conference out of respect and admiration. He described the dialogue as an effective global platform for promoting peace and stability, and appreciated the role of Pakistani students in advancing harmony both nationally and internationally.

Member of Provincial Assembly Ahmad Iqbal stated that Narowal has emerged as a symbol of peace, tolerance, and coexistence, and that such dialogues are crucial at a time when the world is facing complex and rapidly evolving conflicts. He paid tribute to the sacrifices made by Pakistan in the fight against terrorism and acknowledged the strength and resilience of the nation.

Vice Chancellor of the University of Narowal, Professor Dr. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, stated that more than 200 international scholars and dignitaries attended the event and appreciated the remarkable development of Narowal. He noted that the city has become a model for others and that efforts to establish it as a knowledge corridor are successfully progressing.
