Islamabad: The federal government released the details of domestic and foreign loans till June this year, the details of domestic and foreign loans were presented in the National Assembly by the Ministry of Finance.
As of June this year, the national debt was 71 thousand billion, in which more than 47 thousand billion is domestic debt and more than 24 billion foreign debt. Thus, 66 percent of the total debt consists of domestic debt and 34 percent foreign debt.
Domestic debt is being sourced from issuance of government securities, external debt, development partners and commercial institutions.
The Ministry of Finance has presented the debt repayment schedule from 2024 to 2040.
This year, 18 thousand 700 billion will be paid in 2024 and 8 thousand 700 billion in 2025, while 7 thousand 600 billion in 2026 and 4 thousand 300 billion in 2027 will be paid.
Similarly, 6 thousand in 2028 and 8 thousand 400 billion government debt will be paid in 2029, while 2 thousand 400 billion in 2030, 2 thousand 600 in 2031 and more than 1 thousand billion in 2031 are scheduled to be paid.
