Direct trade relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh have begun.
According to sources from the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP), a consignment of 26,000 tons of rice will leave Pakistan for Bangladesh today. The consignment of rice is being exported through the Trading Corporation of Pakistan.
The TCP had selected rice suppliers through an international tender. Bangladesh had signed a government-level agreement to purchase 50,000 tons of rice from Pakistan. The next shipment will also be sent this month.
This is the first official trade consignment from Pakistan to Bangladesh after the fall of Dhaka. The rice consignment to Bangladesh will be carried by the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation’s MV Sibi. This will be the first time a PNSC ship carrying official cargo will dock at a Bangladesh port.
