Neha Kakkar Explains Why She Makes Songs That Face Online Trolling
Indian singer says her music gets people dancing despite criticism on social media
Indian singer Neha Kakkar has opened up about the online trolling she faces over some of her songs, explaining that she continues to make such music because people enjoy dancing to it.
According to foreign media reports, the 38-year-old singer discussed the criticism surrounding her music during a conversation with Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan. Neha acknowledged that she knows certain songs, including “Bara Ladke Saath Ghoome,” are likely to attract negative reactions when released.
However, she believes these tracks serve a purpose, particularly at parties and social gatherings where audiences enjoy dancing to them.
Neha pointed out the apparent contradiction in the public response to her music. While some social media users mock her songs, others create videos featuring the same tracks and attract views online.
The singer said she understands that criticism is inevitable but remains aware that many listeners enjoy dancing to her music. For her, the popularity of these songs on dance floors is one reason to continue producing them.
‘Candy Shop’ Also Faced Backlash
Neha Kakkar previously faced considerable criticism following the release of her song “Candy Shop” in December 2025. The track was created with her brother, Tony Kakkar, who collaborated with her on the song.
Some listeners criticised the lyrics, describing them as inappropriate and distasteful. Others accused the singer of attempting to imitate the style and visual presentation associated with K-pop music.
Despite the backlash, Neha remains one of India’s widely followed singers on social media. Reports cited in the original coverage put her Instagram following at more than 76 million.
Her comments highlight the ongoing debate surrounding popular music, online criticism and the difference between social media reactions and what audiences enjoy at parties and on dance floors.
