Court Issues Non-Bailable Arrest Warrant Against Rakhi Sawant in 2010 Suicide Case

JHANSI, October 19, 2026: An Indian court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against actress and model Rakhi Sawant in connection with a 2010 suicide case linked to her television reality show Rakhi Ka Insaaf.

According to Indian media reports, the warrant was issued by an Additional District and Sessions Judge at a fast-track court in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, after Sawant allegedly failed to appear in court despite repeated summons.

District Government Counsel for Crimes Mridul Kant Srivastava told the Press Trust of India (PTI) that the court decided to issue the non-bailable warrant following her repeated absence.

The case dates back to November 2010, when Lakshman Ahirwar, a resident of Prem Nagar in Jhansi, appeared on Rakhi Ka Insaaf with his wife to address a marital dispute.

Reports allege that tensions arose during the programme after Sawant reportedly made a humiliating remark about Ahirwar. His mother, Savitri, subsequently lodged a police complaint, alleging that derogatory comments made during the show caused him severe mental distress.

According to the family’s allegations, Ahirwar later died by suicide, and his relatives blamed the public humiliation during the television programme for his death.

Rakhi Ka Insaaf featured individuals discussing personal and domestic disputes before a television audience. The programme attracted criticism over its confrontational format and the harsh language reportedly used during some episodes.

The court has scheduled the next hearing for December 1. The latest warrant marks a significant development in the long-running case, although the allegations remain subject to judicial determination.

The issuance of an arrest warrant does not establish criminal guilt, and the final outcome will depend on the proceedings before the court..
