Two Dead, 17 Seriously Injured in Stampede at TikToker Mr Patlo’s Mehndi in Sialkot

Police register case against more than 40 people and arrest six suspects as investigation into deadly wedding gathering continues.

A wedding celebration hosted by popular Pakistani TikToker Mr Patlo turned tragic in Punjab’s Sialkot district after a stampede at his mehndi ceremony left two people dead and 17 others seriously injured.

The incident took place at a local stadium in Moterah, where a large number of people gathered for the event following an open invitation. The situation reportedly became uncontrollable as thousands of attendees arrived at the venue.

According to details, at least 19 people sustained injuries during the chaos. One victim, identified as Aqeel, died after being injured at the scene, while another injured individual, Rehan, was transferred to Lahore for specialised medical treatment. He later succumbed to his injuries, bringing the death toll to two.

Moterah Police Station SHO Mubeen Ahmed confirmed Rehan’s death, stating that the young man had been referred to Lahore in critical condition.

Reports indicate that announcements of a lucky draw featuring a car and motorcycles attracted a particularly large crowd to the mehndi celebration. The gathering reportedly exceeded the available arrangements, resulting in a stampede.

Following the tragedy, police registered a case at Moterah Police Station against more than 40 nominated and unidentified individuals, including Mr Patlo. Six people have been arrested so far, while further investigations are underway.

Sialkot District Police Officer Dost Muhammad said those responsible for endangering public lives would be brought to justice. He also emphasised that negligence in security arrangements would not be tolerated.

The incident has raised serious concerns about crowd management, event security and public safety at large-scale private celebrations.
