Momina Iqbal Reveals Suicide Thoughts Before Wedding
Actress levels serious harassment, blackmail and threats allegations against Saqib Chaddhar
Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal has broken her silence over her ongoing dispute with Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chaddhar, making serious allegations of harassment, blackmail and threats against him.
In a recent interview with journalist Irshad Bhatti, Momina claimed that she was allegedly threatened with the release of her private pictures and personal material on social media. She said the situation caused her severe distress and fear that her reputation and personal life could be affected.
According to Momina, Saqib Chaddhar initially approached her family with a marriage proposal. She said her father asked for some time before giving an answer. However, months later, she allegedly began receiving messages from Saqib’s first wife and learned that he was already married.
Momina further claimed that the pressure surrounding the dispute became so intense that she was thinking about suicide just 12 days before her wedding.
She said Saqib allegedly expected the situation to create problems between her and her fiancé, Hamza, and that Hamza would leave her. However, she stated that he remained by her side throughout the difficult period.
The actress described her husband’s support as a major source of strength and said his presence helped her deal with the situation.
Momina also rejected claims regarding the nature of her relationship with Saqib. She disputed the assertion that the two had been engaged, questioning how such a claim could be made when, according to her, there were no photographs of an engagement ceremony.
During the interview, Momina reportedly presented chat records and other documentary material which she said challenged the timeline of communications and relationship claims previously presented by Saqib Chaddhar.
She also rejected the impression that her primary objective was to obtain money from Saqib. According to Momina, her focus was on bringing the facts of the dispute before the public rather than reaching a financial settlement.
The two sides, however, reportedly have differing positions regarding financial matters.
Meanwhile, the matter has also seen legal developments. On September 3, following the emergence of new digital evidence, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) reportedly issued fresh notices to both Momina Iqbal and Saqib Chaddhar.
A special investigation team has also been formed to review the newly surfaced material alongside the record of the previous investigation. The team has reportedly been given one month to complete its inquiry and submit its report to the agency’s Director General.
The allegations and claims made by the two sides remain part of an ongoing dispute, with the investigation expected to establish further details.
