Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor speaks out against the non-consensual use of AI technology to manipulate women’s images and videos.

MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor has strongly condemned an AI-altered video featuring her, describing the misuse of artificial intelligence to portray women without their consent as a serious form of sexual harassment and a violation of personal boundaries.

The manipulated video, reportedly based on the song Chuttamalle from Devara: Part 1, has been circulating on social media platform X in recent days. The original song features Janhvi Kapoor alongside Telugu actor Jr NTR, while the circulated version has been digitally altered using artificial intelligence.

Reacting to the incident, Kapoor said presenting a woman in an objectionable manner without her consent and distributing fabricated or manipulated material is deeply distressing and represents a serious violation of her dignity and privacy.

She also highlighted the broader problem facing women in the entertainment industry, saying that almost every woman in the industry has encountered some form of inappropriate behavior or harassment. She added that women around the world are increasingly being targeted through similar misuse of technology.

Kapoor stressed that consent, personal choice and respect for a woman’s body must remain fundamental principles. She questioned why these basic rights continue to be treated as complicated issues when they should be universally understood and respected.

The actress further emphasized that a woman’s personal boundaries must be respected regardless of what she wears, arguing that clothing can never justify violating someone’s dignity, privacy or consent.

Her comments have once again drawn attention to the growing concerns surrounding AI-generated and manipulated content, particularly deepfakes targeting women without their permission.
