LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has increased the quota of e-bikes due to the increasing interest of students.
Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan while talking to the media said that e-bikes are being provided to the students in easy installments. E-bikes will be given to all applying students.
He said that 190 thousand students have registered for phase one.
Bilal Akbar Khan said that Punjab government’s plan to give motorbikes to students is being met with success. There are also applications from 50,000 more students who want e-bikes.
He said that the Punjab government is creating ease in the lives of the people. The Chief Minister of Punjab has directed to speed up the bike scheme and to report the progress of the bike scheme to the concerned departments on a daily basis. So that students can get bikes easily.
Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan said that 20 thousand bikes have been kept in the first phase. 19,000 petrol and 1,000 e-bikes are included. Electric bike is expensive and its advance is also high but all the extra money is borne by the government.
