Kanpur: India have claimed the world record for scoring the fastest 50 and 100 runs in the history of the Test format.
In the ongoing Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Yeshwhi Jaiswal scored 50 runs in just 3 overs by hitting fours and sixes.
On the fourth day of the Test, the Bangladeshi team returned to the pavilion for 233 runs in the first innings, in response to which the Indian batsmen adopted an aggressive style.
For the first time in Test history, a team has scored 50 runs in 18 balls. The record for the fastest 50 runs was previously held by England, the English team scored the fastest 50 runs in 26 balls against the West Indies earlier this year.
Along with this, India also set the record for the fastest 100 in the Kanpur Test itself, off 61 balls.
Earlier, India held the record for the fastest 100 runs in 12.2 overs against West Indies in 2023 but have now broken their own record.
