Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have come face to face over the issue of star foreign cricketers.
According to the details, Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 will be held between April 8 and May 19. New CEO Salman Naseer has started a series of online meetings etc. to make his presence felt.
Similarly, the draft date has been set for January 11.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants star cricketers who were not selected for the IPL to be invited to Pakistan. The maximum remuneration of a player in the PSL is $200,000. However, the board and some franchises are concerned that big foreign stars may not come for such a remuneration. The proposal of direct contracts was rejected by the teams some time ago, now there is a possibility of giving the option to negotiate with agents.
Sources say that agents of several foreign cricketers have contacted franchises to inquire about compensation. Some teams are against this method and want big players to be part of the draft, but the board is already in favor of contracts with a few players.
Manager Players Acquisition Shoaib Khalid had resigned some time ago due to academic reasons. Instead of bringing in a replacement, the board convinced him to work part-time.
Sources say that they have contacted several star cricketers including David Warner. Contracts through agents will put franchises in front of each other. If one team offers a player $400,000 and the other is ready to pay $500,000, then the player will definitely become part of the franchise that pays more. However, cricketers selected up to $200,000 in the draft and Pakistani stars will object to this.
According to sources, players like Warner, Williamson, Smith and Jonny Bairstow may be available for the PSL.
