FBR, due date for submission of income tax returns ends

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to bring 2.8 lakh prospective households into the tax net, which is expected to increase the size of the national economy by about 1.6 trillion rupees.

According to FBR spokesperson Bakhtiar Muhammad, there are about 3.5 million people in the country who are eligible to pay tax, but out of them 2.8 million people are still not paying tax. On the other hand FBR has got great success.

In the case of sales tax evasion of crores of rupees caught by the FBR, the Sindh High Court requested to quash the FIR filed against Millat Industrial Products Limited and its chairman for alleged involvement in sales tax fraud. Rejected.
