Minister of State for Information Technology Shaza Fatima has said that the Internet was blocked and not slowed down, the pressure on the Internet came due to the introduction of VPN.
While holding a press conference in Islamabad, he expressed his views regarding the impact of internet speed across the country. He said that there was public anger over slow internet, there was pressure due to internet traffic.
Shaza Fatima said that the government is taking steps to improve the IT sector. The IT sector is at the top of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s priorities.
He said that for the first time in the history of Pakistan, IT exports have increased the most. For the first time, Pakistan participates in METAKAI Global Competition, Ministry of IT imparts coding skills to children.
The Minister of State said that two IT parks, one in Islamabad and one in Karachi, are going to be built. Islamabad IT Parks will provide more than 10 thousand employment opportunities.
He further said that a national commission is being established for the digitization of the economy, the commission will be headed by the prime minister himself. Digitization will bring transparency in institutions. Foreign investment through SIFC is increasing.
