The matters between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Indian Board are still in a deadlock over the Champions Trophy dispute.
The host country of the event, Pakistan, has also given a clear explanation of its position to the Indian Board and the International Cricket Council (ICC) in two words and has decided not to back down from hosting the Champions Trophy.
India had flatly refused to send its team to Pakistan just 100 days before the start of the event, citing security concerns. However, Pakistan took a tough stance this time and proposed a fusion model on the Indian condition of holding the event in a hybrid model that if the Indian team does not come to Pakistan, then our team will also not go to India for the next ICC events.
According to reports, the Indian Board is in a dilemma over this formula because the revenue earned from the Pakistan-India match will also go to another country, thus the Indian Board is increasing pressure on the ICC to shift the event from Pakistan.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet received an official response from the Indian Cricket Board or the ICC on this formula. However, now another development has come to light from the Indian media that the Champions Trophy, which is to be held in the ODI format, can now be played in the T20 format.
Indian cricket website Cricbuzz has revealed in its report that due to the delay in resolving the Champions Trophy dispute, the event is likely to be changed from the traditional ODI format to the T20 format.
This possible change can be made due to the declining popularity of ODI cricket and the increasing popularity of T20 matches among fans.
On the other hand, no official decision has been made by the broadcasters and the ICC regarding changing the format of the tournament.
It should be noted that next year, the Champions Trophy 2025 is being hosted by Pakistan, which is scheduled to be held in February and March.
