Former Bangladesh captain and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s inclusion in the squad for the Champions Trophy 2025 scheduled in Pakistan has started to look uncertain.
According to media reports, former Bangladesh captain and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s bowling action was declared suspect during the English County Championship.
He was tested at Loughborough University in England last month and failed the test, as a result of which he was banned from bowling in domestic and international cricket.
However, Shakib Al Hasan will undergo a bowling test again in Chennai, after which his future will be decided. If the cricketer fails the test again, his participation in the Champions Trophy squad will be doubtful.
Bangladesh’s first match in the Champions Trophy is scheduled for February 20 against India in Dubai, while all eight participating teams will have to submit their final squads by January 12. Despite the uncertainty, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and BCB president Farooq Ahmed are supporting Shakib Al Hasan’s inclusion in the team, but there is disagreement on his inclusion in the squad from the selectors.
