Mumbai: World renowned Indian singer, music director and lyricist AR Rahman won the National Award for Music for the seventh time.
According to Indian media, the 70th National Awards for Indian films released in 2022 were announced yesterday on August 16.
Among the winners of the 70th National Film Awards is Oscar-winning Indian singer AR Rahman, who has been honored with the Best Music Director (Background Score) award at the National Film Awards.
AR Rahman has been awarded for his music direction for Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film ‘Puniyaan Selvan Part 1’, a super hit in the year 2022.
After winning the seventh National Film Award, AR Rahman has become the first music director to win the award the most times in India, the report said.
According to Indian media reports, second in the list is Esganani Illayaraja, who has won five National Awards in the field of music.
Esganani Illayaraja last won the National Film Award in 2015 for the Tamil film ‘Tharai Thappti’ while the third place is Hindi film director Vishal Bhardwaj.
