Mohsin Naqvi Warns PTI Over Islamabad March
ISLAMABAD, September 21, 2026: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is preparing to march on Islamabad, warning that such a move could cause harm to the party and its supporters.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Naqvi referred to the Islamabad High Court’s ruling concerning the planned protests and said political activity must remain within the legal framework.
He said that some “sensible” politicians within PTI did not want a long march, while warning that the government would not allow protesters to occupy Islamabad for an extended period.
Mohsin Naqvi said authorities would develop a permanent strategy to deal with repeated attempts to bring large-scale protests into the federal capital.
“Provocative statements will not make any difference,” the minister said, adding that the government would take measures if protesters attempted to move toward Islamabad.
The Islamabad High Court has ruled that political parties and leaders cannot block roads, highways or public places in a manner that obstructs citizens’ movement or access to essential services.
The interior minister also addressed questions regarding former prime minister Imran Khan’s medical check-up, saying there was no requirement to provide details of his medical examination. He said Khan had undergone a check-up on Sunday night.
On the fuel situation, Naqvi attributed the pressure on domestic fuel prices to conditions in the international market. He said the government was working to reduce petrol prices and had faced difficulties in arranging the movement of oil shipments.
Discussing the proposal for new provinces, Naqvi said the issue was moving forward rapidly. He expressed hope that new provinces could be created if the process received public support.
PTI has planned a march toward Islamabad for September 27, while authorities have stepped up preparations ahead of the planned mobilisation.
