BYD Sealion 6 Local Assembly in Pakistan to Start Q4 2026
LAHORE, September 18, 2026: BYD has showcased its latest new energy vehicle (NEV) lineup at the Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS) 2026, highlighting the company’s expanding presence in Pakistan and announcing plans to locally assemble the BYD SEALION 6.
In partnership with Mega Motor Company (MMC), BYD is presenting a range of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles at the three-day automotive exhibition in Lahore. The SEALION 6 is planned to become BYD’s first locally assembled vehicle in Pakistan, with production targeted to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The PAPS 2026 lineup includes the BYD ATTO 2, the BYD SHARK 6 Anniversary Edition in Outback Orange, the BYD SEALION 6, and the DENZA B8, representing BYD’s luxury technology brand.

BYD Sealion 6 to Mark Local Assembly Milestone
The planned local assembly of the SEALION 6 represents a significant development in BYD-MMC’s operations in Pakistan. The move is expected to shift the company from primarily introducing global NEV products in the country toward establishing a local production footprint.
The SEALION 6 uses BYD’s Super DM-i (Dual Mode – intelligence) plug-in hybrid technology. According to the company, BYD’s Super DM technology has surpassed 8.5 million vehicles sold globally.
The SEALION 6 is designed to combine electric driving with the flexibility of a plug-in hybrid system and offers a claimed total range of up to 1,100 kilometres.
BYD says the system is designed to prioritize electric driving while intelligently managing electric and hybrid power. The company says the technology is aimed at providing fuel efficiency and reducing range concerns during longer journeys.

BYD Expands Electrified Vehicle Portfolio
The wider PAPS showcase reflects the increasing availability of electrified vehicle options in Pakistan, ranging from fully electric models to plug-in hybrids and luxury new energy vehicles.
Lei Jian, Country Head – BYD Pakistan, said Pakistan had demonstrated strong potential for new energy mobility and that the market response since BYD entered the country had strengthened the company’s confidence in the market.
He said PAPS provides an opportunity to demonstrate BYD’s existing technologies and products as well as its future direction, adding that the planned local assembly of the SEALION 6 represents an important step toward establishing a long-term presence in Pakistan.

Danish Khaliq, VP Sales & Strategy, BYD Pakistan – Mega Motor Company (MMC), said Pakistani consumers had increasingly shown interest in new technologies and international mobility solutions.
He said the SEALION 6 would take BYD’s expansion a step further by introducing localisation into the company’s plans, adding that local assembly would contribute to shaping the next generation of mobility in Pakistan.
