BYD-MMC Gharo Plant Nears Completion
Karachi, September 11, 2026: BYD-Mega Motor Company (BYD-MMC) has confirmed that its purpose-built New Energy Vehicle (NEV) assembly plant in Gharo is nearing completion, with equipment installation and commissioning activities currently underway.
The facility is scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2026, marking a significant development for Pakistan’s growing electric and new-energy vehicle sector.

Constructed in less than 18 months, the project is being described as one of the fastest automotive manufacturing developments of its scale in Pakistan. The facility has been designed to meet international manufacturing requirements and BYD’s global quality standards.
Before full-scale production begins, the plant will undergo comprehensive equipment validation, production trials and quality testing. These processes are intended to ensure that manufacturing systems and vehicles meet the company’s required safety, performance and quality benchmarks.
The start of local assembly is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s NEV manufacturing ecosystem and support the wider adoption of new-energy vehicles in the country.
