TikToker Murder Case: Father, Brother Among 5 Arrested in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Police investigating the murder of TikTok personality Shamsu Bibi, also known as Ayesha Gulmina, have made a major breakthrough, alleging that her father, brother and other relatives were involved in the killing.

Rawalpindi police said five suspects have been arrested in connection with the case, including the victim’s father, real brother, cousin, her father’s uncle and her cousin’s son.

SSP Operations Malik Tariq Mehboob said the investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly planned the murder in a way that would shift suspicion toward other people. One of the arrested suspects has reportedly confessed to the crime, while the two alleged shooters have also been taken into custody.

According to police, the suspects have been identified as Fazal, the victim’s father; Bashir, her brother; cousin Ehsan; her father’s uncle Rozi Khan; and cousin’s son Yasin.

Police said the victim had previously moved from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Islamabad. Her family allegedly objected to her presence at a wedding ceremony and had also opposed her social media activities.

The investigation further found that an earlier attempt to attack the TikToker had allegedly been made in Haripur, according to the SSP Operations.

More Than 100 CCTV Cameras Examined

Rawalpindi Police said several special teams were formed on the instructions of CPO Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera to investigate the murder. Investigators reviewed footage from more than 100 CCTV cameras and used human intelligence and other investigative resources to trace the suspects.

Police said the victim’s father and brother were brought into the investigation after investigators examined the circumstances surrounding the killing. The suspects allegedly attempted to mislead law enforcement and create the impression that people outside the family were responsible.

The police spokesperson described the case as an apparent honour-related killing based on the initial investigation, while stressing that further questioning and evidence could reveal additional details.

Authorities said the five suspects would be presented with the available evidence before the court and that the investigation would continue to establish the complete chain of events.

Police maintained that the case demonstrates that attempts to conceal a crime or mislead investigators can ultimately be uncovered through forensic evidence, CCTV footage and sustained investigation.
