Punjab Launches Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat Rs1 Million Interest-Free Home Loan Scheme
Lahore: The Punjab government has officially launched the “Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat” Program 2026, introducing an interest-free financing initiative aimed at helping homeowners repair, strengthen, and expand their houses.
The scheme offers interest-free loans ranging from Rs500,000 to Rs1 million, providing financial relief to families seeking to improve the safety and quality of their homes without the burden of interest payments.
According to the government, the program has been divided into two categories to address different housing needs.
The first category is designed for homeowners who want to repair damaged roofs, reinforce existing structures, or carry out essential home improvements. Eligible applicants can receive up to Rs500,000 in interest-free financing, repayable over nine years with estimated monthly installments of approximately Rs4,700.
The second category targets families planning to expand their homes, including the construction of an additional floor. Under this option, applicants may qualify for interest-free loans of up to Rs1 million, repayable over nine years with monthly installments of around Rs9,300.
How to Apply
Applications can be submitted online through the official Punjab government portal, where applicants are required to complete registration and upload the necessary supporting documents.
Residents who are unable to apply online may submit their applications at the offices of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Assistant Commissioner (AC), or the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA).
The government said applications will be reviewed after document verification, and eligible applicants will receive financing under the program’s terms and conditions.
