A terrifying incident occurred on an American Airlines flight at Denver International Airport in the US, when a fire broke out in the engine of a Boeing 737-800, forcing passengers to be evacuated from the plane. 12 people were slightly injured in the accident and were taken to the hospital.
The incident occurred at 5:15 pm local time on Thursday evening, when AA Flight 1006, flying from Colorado Springs to Dallas, was diverted to Denver Airport due to an engine failure during the flight.
After landing, the plane was heading towards the gate when the engine suddenly caught fire, causing smoke to spread across the runway.
According to American Airlines, there were 172 passengers and 6 crew members on board the plane, who were safely evacuated via emergency slides, wing exits and the jet bridge. According to the airport administration, all passengers were safe, while 12 people were slightly injured.
The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) has launched an investigation into the incident. American Airlines said in a statement that it commended the quick and effective response of the crew, airport team and rescue agencies. An alternative aircraft has been arranged to transport the passengers to their destination.
