Islamabad: The Sugar Advisory Board has convened a meeting on Monday to finalize sugar prices in Ramadan.
A meeting of the Sugar Advisory Board was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, which was attended by Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Rashid Mahmood Langrial. The meeting reviewed the production and requirement of sugar.
According to the announcement of the meeting, a joint policy of the federal and provincial governments will be formulated, while the provincial governments will be taken on board to formulate a new policy.
Rana Tanveer Hussain said that sugar prices will be kept at a reasonable level in collaboration with the provinces, while all necessary steps will be taken to eliminate artificial shortage of sugar and inflation.
The Federal Minister said that the government will initiate strict action against those who increase the prices of commodities, sugar is still available in the market at a reasonable price.
