The Maharashtra government is considering a demand for refund of Rs 9 crore by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan.
This amount was paid additionally on the land of their famous house ‘Manat’ located in Bandra West, Mumbai.
Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan paid Rs 27.50 crore in 2019 to acquire full ownership of the land under the government’s policy. However, it was later found that the government officials had collected the additional amount based on the total value of the bungalow instead of the value of the land, which was termed as an unintentional mistake.
In September 2022, Gauri Khan had applied to the Collector of Mumbai Suburban District regarding this additional payment, after which the case was sent to the Maharashtra government for final approval.
According to sources, if the government accepts this demand, Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan will be refunded Rs 9 crore.
