The Modi government’s failed policies have forced the Indian people to protest.
According to Indian media, people have been protesting continuously since the toxic waste brought from Bhopal arrived in Pathampur for disposal. 337 tons of toxic waste containers have been brought from the site of one of the world’s worst industrial disasters for disposal.
Police lathi-charged the protesters and arrested several people.
Thousands of people died in the 1984 gas tragedy in the city of Bhopal. This toxic waste was brought from the now defunct Union Carbide factory in Bhopal. The local population fears that disposing of this waste near the population is harmful and can cause environmental disaster.
Protests broke out a day after the waste arrived in the city on January 3, and some people attempted self-immolation. Earlier, 16 people died of a mysterious illness in Budhal village of Rajouri district of occupied Kashmir. The presence of neurotoxin has been suspected in the mysterious deaths. These incidents show that the Modi government’s government policies do not care about the lives of the people.
