Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi has informed that drugs worth $10 billion were seized in more than 2,000 operations last year, and the crackdown will continue with full force to protect the new generation from the scourge of drugs.
During a visit to the Anti-Narcotics Force headquarters in Islamabad, Mohsin Naqvi said that those involved in the heinous drug trade do not deserve any concessions, and immediate multilateral measures must be taken to control the growing trend of drugs.
He said that a conference will be held soon to increase cooperation with Gulf countries in the field of anti-narcotics, and the heads of the anti-narcotics forces of Gulf countries will be invited to the conference.
The Interior Minister said that this conference is of key importance for developing a joint action plan in the field of anti-narcotics.
He directed that an awareness campaign against drug use will be continued in educational institutions.
Mohsin Naqvi also appreciated the performance of the ANF for effective operations against the drug mafia across Pakistan despite limited resources and manpower.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the ANF headquarters, the Federal Interior Minister was received by DG ANF Major General Abdul Moeed.
During the visit, Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi was briefed about the performance, functions and operations of the ANF.
Federal Secretary Interior Muhammad Khurram Agha and senior officials of the ANF were also present on the occasion.
