The Athletics Federation of Pakistan has decided to hire foreign coaches to train Arshad Nadeem, who won the gold medal in the julienne throw, and other athletes.
The meeting held in Islamabad was attended by representatives of a large number of units affiliated to the Athletics Federation of Pakistan, including provinces and departments. The meeting was chaired by Brigadier (retd) Wajahat Hussain.
On this occasion, tributes were paid to Arshad Nadeem, who won the gold medal for Pakistan in the Paris Olympics, and it was decided that Arshad Nadeem, Yasir and Shajar Abbas will be trained by international quality coaches to prepare for future competitions so that Pakistan can win more medals.
On this occasion, it was decided to accelerate preparations for the SAFF Cross Athletics Championship to be hosted by Pakistan.
The meeting decided to take steps to find new talent from the grassroots across the country and provide training as well as education to underprivileged children.
It was once again decided that no compromise will be made on doping. It was also decided in the meeting that the Athletics Federation of Pakistan will provide operational and technical support for marathons and road races in the country.
It was also decided in the General Council meeting that instead of government funding, the sponsorship pool will be increased and the marketing department will also be activated.
In addition, it was decided that steps will be taken to enhance the capabilities of coaches and technical officials in Pakistan, while currently Pakistan coaches are also part of the PhD program, which will benefit the sport of athletics in the country in the future.
At the end of the meeting, the excellent performance of Arshad Nadeem and other athletes in international competitions under the supervision of former President of the Athletes Federation of Pakistan, Major General (retd) Akram Sahi, was appreciated.
