31 FIA officers and officials have been found involved in the Greek boat accident, after which the Federal Investigation Agency has come into action.
FIA sources said that 19 officers from Faisalabad Airport, 3 from Sialkot Airport, 2 from Lahore Airport, 2 from Islamabad Airport, while 5 officers from Quetta Airport are also among the suspected officials.
Sources said that the officers include inspectors and sub-inspectors and constables, who were involved in sending people who died in the Greek boat accident abroad.
It may be recalled that yesterday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had directed strict action against those who deceived innocent Pakistanis and took them abroad through illegal means.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister regarding the deaths of Pakistanis in the boat capsizing accident in Greece and the prevention of human trafficking.
During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif expressed his anger over the slowness in taking action against such elements after the 2023 boat accident and directed action against the officers involved in the slowness.
The Prime Minister had said that a painful incident took place in the same area of Greece last year in which 262 Pakistanis died. Human trafficking brings disgrace to Pakistan worldwide, so concrete steps are needed to stop it.
The Prime Minister said that the recurrence of such incidents due to the slow steps taken is a matter of concern.
