Chairman of the Standing Committee Aminul Haque has postponed the Digital Nation Pakistan Bill until the next meeting, saying that further consultation is needed on the bill. All members should bring their suggestions. Everyone will be heard sitting down.
The meeting of the Standing Committee on IT and Telecom of the National Assembly was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Aminul Haque. The agenda of the Digital Nation Pakistan Bill 2024 came under consideration in the meeting. Chairman of the Committee Aminul Haque said that yesterday the members wanted everyone to be given time regarding the bill. If anyone has anything to say regarding this bill, they can tell us.
Sharmila Farooqui said that the law you are going to make is not a roadmap, nothing is clear from your words, Omar Ayub said that why are we in such a hurry in the Digital Nation Plan? Don’t be in such a hurry, call experts, there should be more discussion on it.
Mahesh Kumar said that there is concern about passing the bill in such a hurry, the main basis is connectivity, after that create an authority and digitize it.
Sadiq Memon said that more time should be given to the bill and consultation is needed on it, it is not yet known why the internet speed is slow, the common man needs internet with better speed.
Pauline Baloch said that the secretary said that IT is a matter for the provinces, so can we legislate on it? It is necessary to consult all stakeholders on this, ensure everyone’s opinion.
Chairman Committee Aminul Haque said that it is my responsibility to take all the committee members along.
